Funnel Cakes
A Pennsylvania Dutch tradition, Mom used to make these as a very special treat. Otherwise, you can buy them at carnivals on the east coast. Special. Very, special. These are the ingredients, but they are created by pouring through a funnel into deep fried Crisco oil. Swirl the funnel to make a large circle of sweet dough. Remove quickly from the grease as soon as they are lightly browned, then sprinkle with sifted confectioner's sugar.
